The MRS is eager to work with and support others who share our mission. We are open to partnership with organizations associated with any cancer type in any country that have a particular interest in improving outcomes for metastatic cancer patients and metastatic cancer research. If you or your organization is interested in partnering with the society please contact us at email@example.com. We also have many opportunities for individual or company sponsors listed here.
In 2015, the MRS entered into a Strategic Partnership for Metastatic Cancer Research with METAvivor Research and Support Inc. METAvivor is a non-profit organization in the US that uses 100% of donations to fund metastatic breast cancer research specifically. They also have strong advocacy efforts and offer peer-to-peer support.
The Strategic Partnership began with the goal of improving metastatic breast cancer patient outcomes by educating metastatic breast cancer patients about cancer metastasis research. In 2017, we expanded upon this goal. We now also strive to create projects that engage patients with metastatic cancer researchers and oncologists together in the design and conduct of patient-centered metastasis research and hope to strengthen and expand patient/researcher/clinician relationships. Our efforts are designed to support informed metastatic patient treatment decisions and generate a clear understanding of the needs of the metastatic patient in the clinical setting.
Participation in the Strategic Partnership for Metastatic Cancer Research is open to other groups who are “In it for LIFE,” the Alliance’s mantra which represents the patient advocates and researchers whose primary focus is on active metastasis research that will benefit patients who are living with a metastasized cancer of any kind.
The MRS is an official member of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance. This is a patient-led group of members with collaborative initiatives in metastatic breast cancer lab research, clinical trials, epidemiology, education and access, and awareness.
The sentinel lymph node in the body is the gateway for cancer to spread (metastasize). Therefore, the Sentinel Node Oncology Foundation was created in 2003 on the premise that the next level of cancer research and treatment is upon us to understand more about this important gateway. The Foundation is building a robust sentinel lymph node databank so that the natural history of patients with solid cancer can be accurately defined by their genetic profiles. The Foundation has unified cancer specialists as members, working together to reach its goals through research and clinical trials. SNOF hosts a biennial conference on sentinel node biology, with the next conference scheduled for October of 2019. The MRS works with SNOF in partnership to bring the clinical perspective to metastasis reasearch and treatment.
